THE HUNT

Early in the morning, after a full breakfast, we will drive to the day’s designated hunting spot within 15 to 45 minutes from the lodge. Before sunrise your guide will set the decoys and you will be placed in a double blind. At first light the action will start and once you shoot your morning bag limit, we will drive you back to the lodge, where a snack and a gourmet lunch will be ready for you. 

After lunch and perhaps a brief rest, we will drive to a different marsh for another exciting duck hunt. As an alternative for the afternoon, we offer partridge hunting over exceptional pointer dogs. Evening finishes with drinks by the fireplace and another wonderful meal.

THE LODGE

La Mariana is a working ranch strategically located in the heart of the best duck area of Argentina, only a four hour drive from Buenos Aires Ezeiza International Airport. Charter flights can also land in the nearby town.

The modern and comfortable house, attractively decorated with fine European furniture can accommodate up to 12 guests in 6 double bedrooms with 5 bathrooms. The lodge boasts multiple cocktail areas, two fireplace dens, a trophy room, a playroom, Wi-Fi Internet and Satellite TV. Guests of ‘La Mariana’ will enjoy multi-course menu options of international cuisine prepared with an Argentinian flair using only the finest in freshly grown local products. In terms of number of birds the whole season is very steady. We have a pretty good number of resident birds and different species of ducks migrate at a different time so there is always new ducks arriving. For a collector the later in the season, the better chances to shoot more species.

Partially cloudy with occasional rains. Normally the temperatures range between 30 °F early in the morning up to 70 °F in the afternoon.

A warm jacket for the morning, a beanie, gloves or hand warmers, walking boots and a flashlight. We provide waders and rubber boots in sizes 9 to 13.

Flat land with many ponds and little marshes. This is a very important agricultural area that offers to the ducks an unlimited resource of food and roosting.

Yes, most of our blinds are built on the shore and we can drive right to them, so there is no need to walk in the water.

Yes you can. You must contact the closest Argentinian Consulate and apply for a temporary gun introduction permit. Once you arrive to Buenos Aires the Airport Police and Customs will check your permit and the gun. If you prefer to avoid this, you can rent one of our guns.

In order to offer the best quality, we are constantly buying new guns. We own Beretta and Benelli semi-automatic shotguns.

By land, the distance from Buenos Aires international airport (EZE) to the ranch is 250 miles, all paved road. There is an airport near the ranch that can receive medium size twin engine charter planes.

The lodge is very comfortable, with WiFi and satellite TV but the region doesn’t offer any interesting points for touring. There is some shopping at the nearby city of Pehuajo.

We only hunt every blind once a week, so we have lots of them spread all over the area. The shorter drive can take 5 minutes and the longest 45 minutes.
